Parents often ask what they will need for this season of baseball/softball.  Here is our guide, by division:

T-Ball (PK-K).  Our little ones don't need much -- just their uniform and a smile (a mitt too!).  The league has T's, balls, bases, bats, chewing tobacco, and helmets.  Parents are free to purchase their own equipment.

Instructional (1-2nd).  Mitts are a must and cleats are optional.  The league has helmets and bats but many parents like to bring their own.  The league provides pitchers (you parents) and balls.

Junior/Minor Divisions (3-4th).  Now we start really playing ball.  Players must have gloves and cleats are recommended.  Boys must have cups to play catcher (and are advised to wear one regardless of position they play).  The league has bats and helmets and catcher's gear (including a catcher's mitt) but players are free to bring their own equipment.

NEW FOR 2019:  Girls who pitch will have to wear a fielding face mask.  The league will provide if your daughter does not have one.  Boys are strongly encouraged to wear a face mask or chin protector on their helmet; the league has helmets with face masks if you need one.

Senior/Major Divisions (5-7th).  Players must have gloves and cleats are recommended.  Boys must have cups to play catcher (and are advised to wear one regardless of position they play).  The league has bats and helmets and catcher's gear (including a catcher's mitt) but players are free to bring their own equipment.

*2019 Note on bats.  New bats should have the USA stamp on them or be wood.  No other types of bats may be used at any level of play.

Also, kids LOVE to buy bats that are too big for them, and that slows down bat speed and can lead to frustration.   Try and visit a store that helps size the bat properly such as Valley Sports in Glen Cove on Forest Avenue (mention you are with Sea Cliff Baseball/Softball for a discount).
